What is the New Parent Support Program?
The New Parent Support Program (NPSP) is a program offered to Army Families to enhance parent and infant attachment, increase knowledge of child development, and provide connections to the support services that allow parents to become nurturing and capable caregivers. The NPSP staff consists of caring professionals who provide in-home parenting education, support, and resource linkage.
What if I already have children?
You do not have to be a first time parent to participate in the program! Army Families that are pregnant or with children through the age of three years are eligible for NPSP services. Family Advocacy offers classes to parents with children of all ages. If you already have children and require
childcare to attend one of these classes, we offer free childcare for them! Sign up two weeks prior to the class. Please visit the ACS NPSP Upcoming Events to select a class that is convenient for you.
What can NPSP do for me? 1.Home Visitation: Our professional staff provides supportive and caring services to military Families that are pregnant, or with children through the age of three years. They can talk about your concrens as a parent or parent-to-be, and help you learn to cope with stress, isolation, post deployment reunions, and everyday demands of parenthood in the privacy of your home. To schedule a home visit, please call
270-956-3850 or e-mail the NPSP staff at npsp@fortcampbellmwr.com.
2.Playmorning: Available on Fort Campbell at the Taylor Youth Center.
This wonderful, fun get together is an interactive playgroup to assist parents in learning developmentally appropriate play techniques and to help children improve their social, cognitive, and motor skills. Activities include singing, story time, a craft project, and free play time. Playmorning is held every Thursday from 9am - 11am. No registration is required, however, proof of immunization record is required.
For the month of December, Expectant Parent Workshop
will be held in the Education Center in Room 1203
3. New Parent Expectant Workshop: Available on Fort Campbell at the Family Resource Center (FRC) every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 8:45am - 11:30am in room C.
This class is very important to get your pregnancy off to a good start. You will learn valuable information about basic infant care, infant massage, parenting skills, safety, community resources and much more. This two and a half hour workshop will help supply parents with information they need to go through this challenging time. NPSP can also support you through the early physical and emotional changes as well.
